CD Reviews

One of the All-Time Best Groups
J. W. Brooks | Allentown, PA USA | 03/07/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The "Mag Men". One of the all-time best groups you probably never heard, unless you are from central Pennsylvania. This music never gets old...it is timeless. They were known as the blue-eyed soul brothers. They were as good as the best. Buy this album and it will be one of you favorites. Dave Bupp and Buddy King. I just wish I could hear them one more time in person. Great memories!"

"Listening to this CD takes me back to another time, when life was carefree and nothing else mattered except for great music, girls and dancing. The performances on this CD equal or are greater than the groups of the Sixties that hit the top ten on the pop charts and R&B charts. The Mag Men just needed a better promo man. Hearing Buddy King hit the high notes on "Misty", Dave Bupp's soulful rendition of "Peace of Mind", and the great harmony on "I Could Be So Happy", is pure ecstacy. If Amazon sold a CD with only the group's "All My Loving" on it I'd pay $10 for that single song. I guess you had to live the Mag Men era in PA to understand these feelings. I bought a second copy of this CD and placed it in my safe deposit box to be sure I will always have a copy of my favorite CD. By the way, Bob Angelucci, drummer for the Mag Men has a fantastic band called "Class Act (with Rita)". Jim Seville is also in it."
Excellent Memories

"Wife's account.

Grew up in central PA and hung with the Endells before they formed the Mag Men. What memories this CD brought back - I had forgotten how good they were/are ! Let's all hope that more of their stuff is released on CD. If you do not know them, it is guaranteed that you will become an instant fan. Steve"
