"JOGGING THE MEMORY by Malcolm Dalglish ---
Malcolm Dalglish has created something so different from the typical, so far from the expected, that it is a surprise and a true audio delight. This collection of instrumentals should appeal to lovers of classical, jazz, and new age music and anyone looking for something away from the ordinary. He plays slow tunes, quick, snappy tunes, and gentler tunes that make the listener reflective. The dulcimer is an unusual stringed instrument not often found in current musical works. Its individuality takes this music form to another realm. The name itself, dulcimer, derives from the word for sweet. Having generally a delicate sound, it has the ability to create an even more pronounced and definitive sound, capable of producing intricately nuanced vibratos and at times deep, voluptuous tones. Dalglish has used this lovely instrument to give voice to many of his own musical creations in this album. The entire collection is wonderful. The album sounds even better on CD than on the previously released cassette. Favorites in this collection include the following:
#1 -- Rivulets *
#3 -- Trouser Pockets **
#4 -- New Waltz **
#6 -- Spring Water at Jerry's Run **
#8 -- St. Basil's Hymn *
#10 -- Jogging the Memory
Note: As a personal observation, some of Dalglish's compositions seem to be quite appealing to those who enjoy the sound of summer rain on a tin roof."
