The Hallmark Of Authenticity

"Mantovani's Tipica Orchestra was atypical of a thirties dance band, because it eschewed a brass section and comprised mainly piano-accordion and strings. So I approached it initially with reservations, but found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable mixture of straight tunes liberally sprinkled with others of a more exotic nature.
These recordings carry the hallmark of authenticity, which is hardly surprising, given the leader's upbringing. The clarity of the remastering is up to Vocalion's usual high standard, and enhances the vitality of the music. If you need any further persuading the quality of the vocalists should be enough to tip the balance.
