The acoustic guitar-driven jazz of The Marc Atkinson Trio features the essence of a number of musical styles through the prism of Gypsy Jazz as exemplified by Django Reinhardt. But while the band acknowledges Reinhardt's influence on their music, an influence particularly evident in Atkinson's blazing but keenly melodic improvisation, the trio ventures into musical terrain explored by the great French Gypsy guitarist including flamenco rumba, the 19th Century classical music of Chopin, Brazilian Choro music, and Broadway show tunes.
