CD ReviewsThere isn't a better record on the planet! Ree View | 04/20/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "With his first solo release, Marc Ford displays a wide range of styles within the blues, country and rock genres. What's amazing is with the wide variety of styles on this disc, the songs sound so cohesive. Even more amazing is the honesty and positivity that come across in Marc's lyrics. Even a sad song like When You Go doesn't come across bitter or self-pittied but just leaves you impressed with it's beauty. Marc accomplishes all of this by ignoring his lead guitar hero tag and only focussing on the songs, period.
There are basically 15 great songs on this 15 song disc! From the energized - Long Way Down, California, to the beautiful - Shining Again, Darlin' I've Been Dreamin' as well as a couple of tracks with gorgeous backup/duet singing from Kirsten Ford, every song stands out and more important, stands the test of time. The production is perfect as well, with no leaning to gloss or muddyness, but a clear yet gritty feel that is just what these songs need. Unbelievable that this album is so hard to find as it's probably the most uplifting, honest album I've ever heard and deserves a listen by anyone!" |
