The most talented writer/performers wwb3@pge.com | Santa Rosa, California | 09/16/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "Emotional,Stirring, mood altering, and beautiful poetry. A most talented performer who relays his feelings to the listener in a sincere manner. It is sad that his music is so difficult to purchase. I have enjoyed almost every piece of music this artist had written or performed." A 'desert island' candidate rg61 | Boston, MA USA | 03/23/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "If I could take only one album away on a desert island, this might be the one.
I think that the songwriting on this and his debut, Mannequin, saw Mr. Jordan at the height of his game ... tho' he's still producing remarkable work (e.g. - "When Rita Takes the 'A' Train" from 2004's Make Believe Ballroom). But on this album, what he loses in youthful energy, he makes up in sophistication and style. You may think you know the song "Rhythm of My Heart" recorded by Rod Stewart. And you do ... sort of. This is better. Much better. But when I put this CD on I don't skip a track. I've long since worn out my vinyl copy. Genre? Hmmmm -- perhaps pop with jazz underpinnings. Doesn't matter. Brilliant songs, elegant arrangements and unparalleled delivery. What else are you looking for?" |
