Synopsis

Album Description
The Marcos Hernandez story reads like a classic American Dream. Born in Phoenix, and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, this 22-year-old vocal powerhouse caught the attention of the music industry at age 18 as a member of the Dallas-based group, Sons of Harmony. As a group member, Marcos was soon opening for acts like 98 Degrees, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore and Pink. A 30 city tour with Destiny's Child showed their great promise, but Sons eventually broke up. Marcos went solo and soon caught the attention of Tommy Quon, manager of Vanilla Ice. Work began on his solo debut with Ritchie Blaze, who has produced songs for veteran hit songwriter Dianne Warren, as well as Jermone Harmon, a producer for gospel star Kirk Franklin. Marcos wrote most of the lyrics. The first single, "If You Were Mine", is a huge ballad and connected immediately with radio stations. TVT Records picked up the project and recently added three new tracks to the album with production by hot hip hop/r&b songwriter/producer Scott Storch (Beyonce, Fat Joe, Mariah Carey, etc.), Steve Morales and Mr. Collipark (Ying Yang Twins studio whiz).

CD Reviews

Good... Very Good

"i was hungry for a new CD. i'm really picky when it comes to music and choosing which CDs to purchase. anyway one day i was with my friend who happens to listen to every damn song on the radio. i don't think think there is a song he doesn't know. but not to long after we turned the radio on that i (noticed i said i) heard this song for the first time called "If you were mine". at first i thought it was Frankie J but my friend said it was Marcus Hernandez. this guy sounded good. Really good. a couple of months later i bought the CD and loved it. i was a bit sceptical about buying it first because i've previously bought some CDs (Enrique Iglesias: Escape, Chayenne: Sincero just to name a few) with only one good song and all the others are filler and later i would find myself trading them in for store credit. but not this, not soon, not ever. this guy can really sing and he's not falling in the steotype where just becuase he's latino he sings strictly mariachi or cumbia. infact, aside from "if you were mine (spanish remix)" there are no spanish songs although he does say some spanish sentences in one of his songs. i think it was "Latin Escapades". Even in the song Bailamos he mostly speak english. the CD is a mix of R&B and Pop and some songs with a latin rhythm. he makes them work really well. my favorite songs on this CD are:

IF YOU WERE MINE

LATIN ESCAPADES

ENDLESSLY: For some reason this songs sets you free. it makes me want to be a better man. i can't wait for my first girlfriend so i can sing this to her.

C ABOUT ME

GET PERSONAL

CALL ME (it sounds kinda like Play House from the boy band Pretty Ricky although i can't stand those perverts)

there's my list. not to dis all the other songs. they are great but i find myself listening to these songs more. i hope he makes many more CDs. it's such a shame that he makes music about love and passion and these teenybobbers listen to songs about well you know. i think this guy is rare and there should be more like him producing this kind of music. he can sing but watch that he won't get his due credit whereas you have some non talent vocalists wannabes (Ray Jay, Ciara, JLo) who get all the praise. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of "If you were mine (spanish remix). don't get me wrong the song isn't horrible but it's just too fast and his high notes make him sound kiddy like. i'm perfectly capable of speaking and understanding spanish but this sound just does nothing for me. MARCOS, TIENES ME APOYO AMIGO. YO DESEO QUE TO SUBE!!"
Not bad at all

"When I first heard the song "If You Were Mine" on the radio, I thought 'a Frankie J wanna-be'...but I was wrong. I bought the album and listened through it and it's not bad at all. "If You Were Mine" in my opinion, isn't the strongest track off the album because there are also catchy ballads including "Endlessly", "Get Personal", "The Way I Do", "Call Me" and many others.

If you like Frankie J then you'll like listening to Marcos Hernandez's smooth, soulful voice in C About Me."
