"Marcus Tardelli is amazing. His tallent, energy, and creativity are so great that he needed more than the usual number of fingers on his left hand: enter, the thumb! I have seen this guy perform. He actually brings his left thumb around with his fingers (from under, not over the neck of the guitar) to complete broader, richer chords, and bring more notes into his playing.
This is his first solo CD - he used to play with Maogani, an instrumental quartet - and he plays music by Guinga, a Brazilian composer and guitarist, who calls him the greatest guitarist Brazil ever produced."
Complex arrangements of Guinga classics

"Who is Guinga ? Well, in musical terms, somewhere between a Brazilian Jerome Kern and an Aaron Copeland, with plenty of other stuff in the middle: rich, moving, intellectual music which is solidly grounded in choro and Brazilian popular music. And it swings. And it is beautiful.
And Marcus Tardelli ? Simply a brilliant Brazilian guitarist, with the sound characteristic of the Brazilian instrument, and a technique which is as extraordinary as the quality of the arrangements. The cleanliness of his attack, the insight into the music, and his ability to shift sensitively into the unfolding of Guinga's melodic and harmonic invention makes him a nearly perfect interpreter of these elegant songs,
Anyway, whatever you call it, this is a wonderful CD."

"I have never heard or seen a guitarist of this calibre. His playing is astounding! It is perfection.
Guinga is Brazil's most notable modern song writer. These compositions demonstrate the richness, complexity, and greatness of Brazilian music . Guinga is a fabulous guitarist himself, a virtuoso in fact. He calls Marcus Tardelli, "the father" of his music.
Marcus Tardelli keeps too a low profile. We need him to come to this country often.
