A CLASSIC CLASSIC!

"How marvelous to spend a frolicing good time with Maria Muldaur during the intimate night club appearences in 1973-75. Now with seemingly every top forty dreck about gangstas, thugonamics, ghetto chickc, playas and who's to recap a time when an artiste like Maldur actually had a top forty pop hit-Midnight at the Oasis. Thirty years later she remains deliciously beautifully brunette and singing with the unique vocal stylings that only are reminiscient of Mildred Bailey [ the first great jazz and big band singer]. She gets better and better but back to this classic live recording! As always Maria brings along the finest musicians and here you hear the particularly fine trio of John Girton, Amos Garrett and David Nichtern. The wide range of American songs skips about as Muldaur introduces you to Billie Holiday, Rose Maddox and Memphis Minnie. That means visits to the 30s-40's of Memphis, Appalachia, and Harlem. Maria Muldaur remains an American musical treasure so be sure to add this one to your collection."

"This is the Maria Muldaur we came to know and love. While she continues to belt them out (see her latest CD: Sweet Lovin' Ol' Soul), this CD is a pure and great representation of one of the masters. The propensity of this legend of the music of our youth-to-adult lives has not dwindled. Highly recommended."

"Really nice live set. As my title mentions above, grab it while you can! Now if they'd only release the King Biscuit show from the same period which if my memory serves correctly is even better then this one.
Edit 12/9/09: Wolfgang's Vault has released the KBFH show (+ 2 others from the mid 70's) & it is just as good as I remembered!"
