Manson continues to reinvent himself on "Eat Me, Drink Me"

"Marilyn Manson's 6th full-length album presents a new and unique sound for the band, as all of Manson's albums do. "Eat Me, Drink Me" took me some getting used to, but after about 2 listens, I really liked it. The sound of the album is dark-pop-rock, for lack of a better term. This is probably my least favorite Manson album, but that doesn't make it bad, 'cuz I'm a huge Manson fan. However, if you are looking for the previous industrial metal sound, you won't find it on this album. What you have here is a lot of gothic, trippy, and depressing tracks, all written during a point of duress in Manson's life. Only two people are credited with writing and performing the album: Marilyn Manson and Tim Skold. Production is great, and overall, this is a good, but unique comeback album. The track "If I Was Your Vampire" is AWESOME as a gothic anthem of sorts. Some of my other favorites on the album are: "Putting Holes In Happiness", "Just a Car Crash Away", "Evidence", "Are You the Rabbit", "Mutilation is the Most Sincere Form Of Flattery" and "You and Me and the Devil Makes 3". The album also contains the hit "Heart-Shaped Glasses", which I personally didn't dig as much as the rest of the album. Overall, I'd say 3.5 stars."
