"I cant believe some people hate this album... this is very good.. a classic by my taste. the music IS very bowie and the imagery has a kind of andy warholian-emptiness of hollywood in a glittery decadence with an almost Golden Age of Grotesque brash-case in point: i wanna disappear and i dont like the drugs. but my favorites here are the more depressing but haunting songs like The Speed of Pain (for a moment in the last part where he sings "hope that we die holding hands, for always" his voice almost sounded electronic like something lifted out of a kraftwerk album. that was delectably haunting. and the back up singers- delicious in its sarcastic irony), Fundamentally Loathsome- one of the best manson songs i have yet heard. the music is like a 50's lounge music and works wonders for the whole concept-atmosphere of the album. Last Day on Earth is also very very good. whenever i listen to it, it almost takes me back to the electronic 1998 digital age. But the very best song and my personal favorite in this CD is Coma White.just magnificent with those sulking guitar work at the end and the soft piano-like guitar opening. the lyrics themselves are above what and how even david bowie writes~ "There's somecold and blank/ behind her smile/ she's standing on an overpass/ in her Miracle Mile". how can you resist that? its a classic. another one of my favorites is mechanical animals. the Arena-rock style guitar opening and the ending are just worthwhile for any music(not just manson) fan to drown their ears to. Great big white world is also a very good song but im dry out of praises. bottom line this is must have unless of course youre a right wing christian obsessed with demonizing the modern liberal humanity or a homophobe too tangled up with the cover art instead of the music or the concept behind both the music and the art. this might be something thats too hard to swallow for you"
