Perfect match

"Marina's work is a perfect match between the cuban and brazilian musical history. Beautifully performed. On top of the well chosen songs, a modern, corageous and careful work has been done here. This CD is a must have."
Who is Marina de la Riva

" I'm called Marina de la Riva. I'm Brazilian, daughter of a Brazilian mother, from Minas Gerais and a Cuban father, from La Havana.
Among other things, I' flourished out off all these influences.
To us, music has always been, a very important part of home. It was longing in space and time, rhythm and hope. It was the chosen way of sharing roots, and keep moving on.
That's how I grew up. Between fields, sky and sea.
This record is the natural consequence of myself, and if we are our past in the present time, here I stand to reveal myself through music.
With this album, "I'll draw out what I hold within my heart"(*)"

"Samba isn't Rumba"

"It is a great surprise, finding Samba performed in Spanish and still being Samba.
Since Carmen Miranda we wish for someone who could perform both, respecting the soul and tradition.
She knows perfectly the difference and does it with honor and respect, especially when singing with Chico Buarque.

"An inspired melding of singer and song. The album is beautifully evocative of a bygone era yet infused with a modern sensibility. It is simply wonderful!"
