CD ReviewsMark Dresser's trancendence of extended technique 07/15/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "I have never heard a solo bass record quite like this. In fact, I have never heard sounds like this before from any other contrabass player. Mark Dresser incorporates his "extended techniques" as well as some other studio techniques (ala overdubbing and musique concrete), into a truely wonderful solo bass recital. However he masterfully trancends his virtuoso technique to deliver something that is extraordinarily beautiful and extremely rewarding. At the same time it is also very accesable, and is never boring. Mark Dresser is truely one of the greatest and most underrated musicians/composers in the world, and he is now my favorite bass player. Pick up Invocation, you won't be dissapointed."
