"For those who read my review for the movie "October Sky", I want to say that the soundtrack is just as good...if not better. The score is beautifully crafted by Mark Isham and the oldies are just an added bonus. I really liked "It's All in the Game". I just wish the oldies were all together instead of scattered around. It's kinda hard to enjoy the score when the oldies music constantly interupts it.Overall, this is a wonderful score and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys classical music or the film "October Sky"."
Beautiful Soundtrack

"I had tried and tried ever since I saw the film (which is also awesome) for months on end to get a copy of the October Sky soundtrack, without, of course, paying $45 for a used copy on here. My parents finally bought it for me for Christmas, but I never really got around to listening to it until 7 months later. Man, I didn't realize how great this CD is! The hauntingly beautiful score (highlights: Coalwood, Sputnik, Auk 13, Miss Riley, October Sky) by Mark Isham is so moving it can put a lump in your throat; while the handful of 40's/50's songs add an element of fun to the soundtrack, even if they do sometimes come in at awkward moments in the album.
All in all, this is an awesome album which is probably in my top 7 favorite soundtracks (and I am some-what of a 13 year old connoisseur of good soundtracks [particularly scores]).
This CD is great for fans of scores, fans of the movie, or some one who just wants a break from their "Apollo 13" soundtrack."

"I love this movie and the score, but i haven't purchased the soundtrack yet because of the price. Can anyone tell me why it's so expensive from other sellers, and why isn't it available new? I could buy 5 CD's for the price these people are selling one of these used."
A Memoir Of The Past.

"I Thought that Mark Isham has created a collection of scores that have a fitting theme to living in a small town The best tracks Are Coalwood, The search for AUK 13 and October Sky this is very emtional music and gives you a sense what it was like living in the past."
Inspirational and sad at the same time

"October Sky is a very good soundtrack in that it is comprised of very emotional pieces. Mark Isham creates a fitting theme for the small mining town of Coalwood. Although it is used many times through out the cd, it never ceases to amaze me.The Spunik track is also stirring as you can imagine the townspeople staring out at the night sky watching the first man-made satillite cross the October Sky.The rock tracks are fun, some are a minor annoyance, most of them are bearable. The only drawback is most of Isham's music is less than 2 minutes long. Another possible irratation is that the listener can occastionaly hear the breathing of the musicians playing the wind instruments on several tracks if the volume is loud enough. The tracks that standout the most are:Coalwood, Sputnik!, The Search of AUK 13, I Won't Shed a Tear, and Rocket Boys. All in all, great music and a must get!"
