"After his tremendous success with "Speed", Mark Mancina returns scoring another Jan De Bont film, "Twister", which is by far a better score. Here, Mancina unleashes sheer orchestral power and excellent thematic material that really sounds good both in the film and on CD. "Wheatfield" opens with conductor, Don Harper's voice telling the orchestra to quiet down as they get set to perform the music (turn up the volume to hear what he's saying). Then, you better turn it down quick because the volume is really loud. The main theme then comes with lots of strings, with hard hitting low brass and racing percussion. "Futility" contains an excellent rendition of the main theme played on strings. "Downdraft" features propulsive string rhythms and screeching clarinets. The impressive LA Master Chorale shines in tracks such as "The Big Suck", "Ditch", "Bob's Road", "We're Almost There", and "God's Finger" to aid in the devastation of the destructive tornado. "Going Green" contains powerful rhythmic strings along with a wailing electric guitar. One disappointment about this score is "William Tell Overture/Oklahoma Medley", which in my opinion, is distracting from the score and doesn't belong. Mancina actually didn't want this either, as he had written a big orchestral ending for the film, but director Jan De Bont didn't like the idea and instead, went with the other. "End Title/Respect the Wind" finishes off the score with one final rendition of the main theme, which segues into a nicely done instrumental piece by Edward and Alex Van Halen. If you want knockout action music with solid thematic material, then this score is definitely for you. Pick it up if you can find it."
Terrific soundtrack!

"I liked this CD from the first song. Mark Mancina did an excellent job of composing these songs. Twister is a naturally high-adrenaline movie, and Mark Mancina did well to add to that adrenaline rush. It's an excellent soundtrack and I enjoy it thoroughly each time I listen to it."
Exceptional Piece of Work

"As a die-hard John Williams fan I have in the past found it hard to listen to anything besides his work. But in this case I made an exception. Mark Mancina did a terrific job of portraying the feeling of the wrath of the weather turned for the worse in this score. When you listen to the sound of track number seven, "Going Green", you can almost taste the excitement of going into the very finger of God to try and second guess him. I highly recommend this CD."
