Mark Murphy the underground phenom

"Murphy's album of Jazz Standards is possibly one of the most overlooked albums in Vocal Jazz. Murphy possesses the ability to scat like Ella, the rich tone of Sinatra and the phrasing that sounds like the best of the horn players. This set features old standards as well as some songs that had never been vocalesed before. (Vocalese is the addition of words to songs that previously didn't have any). This album is definately a treasure and a must have for any real jazz enthusiast."

"Technique, feeling - a splendid show of scats, vocalises, singing - compiled from the wonderful Muse Records tapes recorded by Professor Mark Murphy. I have hardly all Mark Murphy's CDs and I have this compilation too. And I want more!"
This swings!

"Mark Murphy is a jazz vocalist extrordinaire. His timing, phrasing and innovativeness are unique. He can make a standard sound new again. Two tracks that I haven't heard before but really loved were "Saxophone Joe" and "Ain't nobody here but us chickens"! These tracks really swing."
