""The Notorious Bettie Page" -- i have not yet seen the movie by this title but i did just purchase the original motion picture soundtrack album (cd) and WOW! . . . this is one great album of music (just as Bettie Page is one great female beauty!).
This sondtrack album contains some original scores written by Mark Suozzo - very blusey-jazzy pieces evocative of the times. Also there are orchestral arrangements by Perez Prado . . . and Artie Shaw . .and the great Esquivel (with his visual sound experience) . . . and leroy Anderson . . . then there are the period country songs: by Hank Ballard & The Midnighters . . . Eddy Arnold . . and Patst Cline . . . and pop vocals by Jeri Southern . . .and Julie London . . . and Fats Waller. These artists music evoke and underscore that phenomenon Who was "The Pin-Up Sensation That Shocked The Nation".
Time has shown that Bettie Page was neither "notorious" not "shocking" but a most unique and unrivaled manifestation and incarnation of astounding sensual feminine allure and beauty. And in the current musical environment of our times the music of this soundtrack does not shock our ears -- but it does produce sounds evoking beauty and class and sophistication appropriate to the enticing intoxicating classy sophistication of the greatest pin-up model of all time!
Thank you to the artists who created this music . . . and thank you to whoever selected these tracks for this soundtrack . . . and thank YOU to Miss Bettie Page for breaking new ground . . . and especially for "being" Bettie Page! :)"
