Tony the Tiger says: "It's SSSSttraIGHT!!!"

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Good overall album. I have to admit...I am an electronic music fanatic and I absolutely LOVE trance. It is probably my favorite type of electronica. In any case...I don't know if it's due to the time I grew up in, but I kind of enjoyed the older vibes, like Tiesto's ISOS4 or Armin van Buuren's Universal Religion. But I must say this album has a great selection of tunes. Some are smooth and mellow, and some are hard and will leave your blood pumping and yearning for more. It is not in the least a disappointment. I will also say honestly, that some (2 cd set) albums have perhaps 6 or 7 good songs on the WHOLE album (meaning both cd's combined), but Amsterdam '08 has one of the coolest feels to it since Schulz's Ibiza '06 and, in saying so, is quite good with the majority of the tracks. Of course...I feel cliche writing this review since I read a lot of these reviews before purchasing an album and upon listening to the album when I receive it, I think back to the reviews and find them....'off'. It is all opinion. It depends on the vibe that you have in you. Another piece of advice is listening to the preview tracks. Most of them let you hear the best parts of the song, but not always.

Forgive me for getting off track.

Amsterdam '08 is an album that doesn't ever really let up. The flow of it keeps going steadily, with smoother beats and harder ones mixing throughout pretty evenly. The first cd is a little more...trancy...as the second is a little more of a head-butt, if I may say so. Still not mega-hype trance music, but it is interesting and unique. Markus picked some great tracks for this album, also throwing in two great ones of his own, "Fly To Colors" and "Daydream". Like I said before, this is all my own opinion and it all depends on what kind of melody suits your ears best. This isn't one of my favorite albums EVER, but it is really growing on me slowly the more I listen to it. DEFENITELY a must have for any Markus Schulz fan or trance fan. It is a really good overall album. I give a 4 out of 5 stars."
