Marky Ramones's first compilation.....disapointing

(2 out of 5 stars)
"(btw: I'm not a kid, I just didn't want to register so my review comes up as 'kid's review')
Marky's first "best of" album is out....and there goes my advice: keep your money and take a girl out instead.
Two CDs of Marky at its very best?
Unfortunately not...
The concept could have been cool since Marky Ramone (Marc Bell) was not only the great drummer of the Ramones but also was a member of a handful of other great bands.
Sadly, you won't find any Wayne County & the Backstreet Boys track, no Richard Hell and the Voidoids track, no
Ramainz track, no SpeedKings track, not even a Dust track...
What you get is a re-release of the Intruders songs which were released in the 90s...
And the second CD? It is just marky playing some Ramones
tunes with whoever it may have been.
The Intruders recorded two albums, one of them is still available, the other one can be bought for as little as $3 from amazon marketplace sellers.
Why re-releasing those stuff?
I don't get it....especially since its not thrilling material. Just your usual "MTV Punk" type of sound...nothing really exciting.
As for the second CD, If I wanna hear Marky play drums on Ramones songs I'll just listen to the Ramones...
(Who would buy an album of Ringo Starr playing some Beatles tunes with random dudes?....and its not even like he's singing...)
Whoever came up with that best-of album concept is out of his/her mind...
There was enough interesting material in Marky's pre-Ramones and post-Ramones career...so why did they do this?
Start of the Century?!
What a way to start it!! with Intruders songs that got recorded
in the 90's, and with covers of songs that
were recorded in the 70's.
I'm giving it 2 stars because its Marky, but I certainly won't waste my money on this.
If you want good post-Ramones stuff by Marky...get yourself the Ramainz LIVE album that Dee Dee and him recorded.
Now that's true punk rock, the Ramainz album is a must have (!).
Also get yourself the Marky Ramones & The SpeedKings album...that's by far Marky's best solo effort (except for the Ramainz).
The SpeedKings album is still available from amazon.
They also have a live album that you can track down, as well as a bunch of 7inches.
