"With this album, saxophonist/clarinetist Marty Ehrlich offers further proof that he is one of the truly great voices of his generation. Among the things that make his music stand out is his blending of the most earthy roots of jazz and improvisation's more cerebral extremes. Also notable is his selflessness as a leader and his extremely tight interaction with bandmates Stan Strickland (tenor, soprano, and flute), bassist Michael Formanek, and drummer Bobby Previte. This album has no end of wonderful music, from the neo-classical harmonies of "Pictures in a Glass House" to the magnificent collective improv on "North Star." A true gem."
