A fine come back

"Ian Levine's mega-ambitious Motorcity project in the early 90s would also see this tireless man reuniting the original formation of The Marvelettes. Around 30 songs were all in all recorded, 18 on which have found their way to this compilation which mostly includes original songs by the likes of Levine himself, Johnny Bristol, Sylvia Moy, and lead singer Gladis Horton, and they are nice enjoyable poptunes with well performed vocals. The Marvelettes also did some remakes of their hits from the 60s, "When You're Young And In Love" is featured on this CD, while "Hunter Gets Captured By The Game", "Don't Mess With Bill" and "My Baby Must Be A Magician" can be sought out on the label's "Tribute To Smokey Robinson"-CD. (And just wait till "He Used To Be A Playboy" - a wonderful answer-back record to their own "Playboy" hit! - reemerges on a Best Of Motorcity Records CD!) This collection is indeed a very nice come back for The Marvelettes."
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

"This album is total crap and should be avoided at all costs. In fact anything that Ian Levine has had a hand in should be treated like the plague. The Marvelettes were a wonderful Motown group who disbanded in 1970 and were IMHO very misguided in agreeing to make this appalling record. It sounds like it was recorded in a garden shed with a drum machine & a computer. It's sounds as much like the Marvelettes as I would. Please, please, please don't buy this record but instead seek out any of the girls Motown or Spectrum collections for the real thing."
