"While the Mary Jane Girls only lasted as a group between 1983 thru 1986, these ladies made enough of a lasting impression on me ! Not only were they candy for my eyes but their gifted vocals were just as ,if not more, exceptional than meets the eye (or ears). After owning this compilation, you don't need to own the two previous albums from where the material came from. In fact, just be glad that some extended cuts were added ! Mary Jane Girls were the epitome of the up-to-date version (for the 80's) of the 60's Motown girl groups ; It was all about sensual soul, talented vocals, and sexy fun !This was not a mediocre-female kitsch group like another so-called rival girl group around the same time (could it be...Vanity 6 ?)...The MJGs sound was a funk/pop-rock driven machine (by the producing hand of punk-funk master Rick James).Once in a while a few surprises would be thrown in like the sweet and subtle jazz-based tune Shadow Lover or the soft ballad You Are My Heaven. There were a few weak questionable songs that did border on camp during the MJGs hot streak: Girlfriend and Leather Queen (Maxi's attempt at erotic rap-this track is only found on the Only Four You album...it's not on this set)..."

"Rick James wrote&produced the jams for this group.but the Mary Jane Girls have there own style and were able to find themselves and earn their Respect. In My House,Candy Man,Wild&Crazy Love etc.. the trademark Stone City Band sound is in effect."

"these girls rocked on in my house, wild and crazy love, candy man etc.. with the king of punk funk behind the boards as writer, arranger, producer, instrumentalist and image-maker this group though only 3 albums old (2 studio releases + this) made an impact.despite Rick's sound all over the place they still were there own women. and they were fine as hell. still are.not to mention there songs have been sampled like crazy."

"Let their music do all the talking! Rick James was on the top of his game and these ladies could do more than look good - they could actually sing! These songs still stand up today and still make the joint jump! Get yourself a copy and be reminded of how R&B/Pop should sound! Five stars for the Mary Jane Girls!"
