"...and Pieslak should be the new word in contemporary classical music. The entire CD is thoughtfully ordered, but it seems very fitting to begin with Pieslak's "severed", since the initial speechless first-impression lingers throughout the length of the CD. Between moments of entrancing metal-like rhythms (for which the percussion section is genius), you find touches of indonesian gamelan, and hauting murmurs from the string section. Pielak's influences are clear, and only he can melt together metal, rock, and classical together into a truly unique and unforgettable composition. Bravo! And lastly, the talent of the Kiev Philharmonic is undisputedly evident, in the way they deliver an excitement to the listener usually found in a live performance."
