""Talkin talkin talkin talkin talkin about something
We got to stay together because we are all the same nature. This is a fact!"
"I beleive that love, love is the only way
to make all the people get what they need."
If simple yet true messages like the ones above appeal to you, and better yet you can have them sung/chanted over 1974 vintage funk riffings replete with congas, horn corners and the occassional James Brown "Good God!" -- then you've come to the right place. Took a few songs for me to start getting into this album, but once it warms up, I'd wager you become a confirmed Matata fan. You say Matato, I say Matata. You say potato, I say good belly grooves. This album ends on the right note, and is fully worth the purchase if you can find it at a reasonable price.
Dubbed "one of the very best pure funk outfits ever to come from outside America", most of the band members originally hailed from Kenya though their music found its largest audience in the UK and Europe."
