"Matrix "Various Films" has a nautical deep tech feel similar to other artists on the Chain Reaction label. If you've heard Porter Ricks or Hallucinator you can expect almost the same from Matrix, but they of course still manage to have their own finger print. Just like any Chain Reaction release on CD, I feel slightly cheated with brief track lengths when usually there is a longer vinyl version out there. Matrix has some low dubby bass loops laced with high frequency synth chords and effects. Though filled with dark, dreamy reverberated atmospheres, this work also has the pulsing techno beat that reminds you this music is not just for listening to, but would liven up any techno club as well. Don't let the title similarities fool you, these tracks all have their own personalities that will leave you wanting even more."Isolated Dot" may be the most melodic of the pieces, with the brooding soft-synth string progressions that generate a cinematic feel (perhaps why the name various "films"), while many of the other tracks are more minimal and exude a cold feeling. This is another great techno release on Chain Reaction."
