"Matt Monro could take a song and make it a masterful symphony with his excellent style of performing ballads. This CD is chock full of great tunes sung as only Matt could sing them; and it also proves just how great Matt Monro really was.
"Strangers In The Night" gets a sweet treatment by Matt; and the strings work wonders for the musical arrangement. Matt croons this as only a pro like him could do; and I predict that you will enjoy "Strangers In The Night" very much.
Moreover, listen for "People" from the movie Funny Girl. Matt's excellent diction bolsters his performance as he sings this ballad to perfection. I love that arrangement, too! "When I Fall In Love" features Matt's vocals squarely in the spotlight; and Matt delivers this number with great sensitivity.
"Over The Rainbow" could never be as good as the way Judy Garland sang it; but Matt does a fine job. "The Long And Winding Road" showcases Matt's excellent ability to cover a song by The Beatles; and he never misses a beat, either. In addition, you'll like "Singin' In The Rain" which gets a slower than usual tempo but it still shines like gold in Matt's capable hands.
"When You Wish Upon A Star" by Matt is one of the most beautiful interpretations I've ever heard; and the musical arrangement adds a harp to enhance the natural beauty of this number. "Hello Dolly" is another number with a slow tempo to make it sound romantic and "The Shadow Of Your Smile" stuns me with its beauty.
The album ends with "The Impossible Dream." Matt sings this passionately with all his heart and soul. It's a masterful performance!
Matt Monro will always remain one of the best male vocalists of the entire twentieth century. I highly recommend this for Matt Monro fans; and if you want a single CD to get to know just how good Matt Monro really was this would be an excellent CD for starters.

"I thought that I had all his material. Happy to have found 8 tracks that I did not know he recorded."

"Matt Monroe's unique and unmistakable voice is well preserved and shines out in this title. His version of "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing" is one that you will enjoy most among many fine tracks in this album. I just wish we still can find someone like him singing the golden oldies in his style."

"This is a wonderful CD. Matt Monro has a wonderful voice and the songs are all the older songs. I wish I had bought it sooner."
"Since discovering Matt Monro, I can't get enough of his cd's. He has been compared to Frank Sinatra yet I feel he has a smoother voice, what started me was his rendition of "HERE'S TO LIFE" which makes me feel WONDERFUL everytime i hear it!"
