Matt Monro's hit "Portrait Of My Love" is flawless. The music, the arrangement, the backing, the interpretation, and the singing of - just sheer prefection, and it sets the tone for the whole album. He had a huge world wide hit with "Born Free" (the story of the Lioness cub,Elsa) in fact Munro could sing anything. In his way, he was as good with interpretation and intonation as was the great Sinatra, and Frank thought so, too - singling Monro out for praise on more than one occasion. Dead at only 54, thank God he has left us with so many wonderful memories. " |
