The vibe--relaxed sambas, flowing ballads, and dancing aboriginal pieces--always enchants. Think Egberto Gismonti circa Sol do Meio Dia meets Peter Epstein and Sam Newsome, and you've got a feeling for what's going on here--some of the most evocative and beguiling world jazz ever recorded.Who knows why certain discs achieve wide listening, while others, equally or more deserving, such as this one, languish in the pop cultural backwaters? In any case, in this day of unknown and arcane recordings readily available from Amazon, you'd be a fool to let this one slip through your fingers.Highest recommendation."
