"Writing a review for a musical event designed to benefit those suffering from AIDS is difficult. Suffice it to say that the cause is worthy; the works, well-respected; and, the performers, excellent. The language is German and features works by Verdi, Nicolai, Donizetti, Tschaikovsky, Catalani, Korngold, Mozart, Rosssini, Verdi, and Bernstein. The performers include Annette Dasch, Salvatore Licitra, Torsten Kerl, Nina Stemme, Mesha Brueggergosman. Max Raabe introduces each piece to the amusement of the audience. If you are into opera, or if you are not, the snippets of music are beautiful and exquisitely done. What's not to like? This particular CD seems to have developed something of an international following. Perhaps, in a headier time, it would be even better known."
