"By the name of the band 'Maze of Torment' I was expecting them to sound like old Morbid Angel or an attempt at the old Morbid Angel sound. On the first Morbid Angel album with David Vincent is the song "Maze of Torment". I'm sure you can understand my insight. This is not what I was expecting at all. Though these guys may have a Morbid Angel song title for their band name, they truly remind me of the Haunted. Maze of Torment is exactly how I would picture the Haunted if the Haunted came out back in the early 90's when Death metal was good. Though Maze of Torment may remind me of the Haunted they bring originality to their riffs and a much more brutal sound. Everything about Maze of Torment is super fast. It is almost as if each member is racing to get to the end of the song first. Every song on this album is full of fast pull-offs, blast beats, and plenty of rolling toms. The singer makes me think of a hyperactive Lee Dorian after drinking 30 cups of coffee. The vocals are delivered fast and unrelenting like everything else about this band. The songs are arranged with genius song structures that are incredibly technical but not over-technical; much easier to digest than most of the bands that over-play boring technical riffs that virtually take them nowhere. Maze Of Torment play incredibly fast songs with a surgeon's precision and make the technicality of their music easy to swallow and have nice smoothly executed blisteringly fast songs. If you are interested in this album the slightest bit I would recommend getting this instead of anything that has come out recently."
