"I feel this is the best (Mel & Tim) cd I have it in constant rotation in my stereo. How unique is "Starting All Over Again" and there version is unmatched by any artist. I love their sweet harmonies on "Carry Me". I reccommend this cd."

An almost unknown Stax title that sounds great...

"This CD titled "Starting All Over Again" by Mel & Tim is a very excellent album. Released in 1972, this seemed to be one of Mel & Tim's rare albums with the Stax Records label. The title song is so wonderful, sounding very similar to the Chi-Lites' 1971 hit "Have You Seen Her", with its intro and spoken verses. For Mel & Tim, "Starting All Over Again" was their first big hit since their 1969 song "Backfield in Motion". After this album (Starting All Over Again), they recorded a second album with Stax, which was simply titled "Mel & Tim" (from 1974). The last 4 tracks on this CD were from their 1974 self-titled album. According to the book Soulsville USA: The Story of Stax Records, it was said that these two guys' ecstasy would be short-lived, because they would never enjoy this level of success again. That may sound kind of odd; whatever the reason why these guys didn't have this success again, who knows. The title track of this CD has become another one of my favorite songs from the Stax label (I do like several of the other songs on this album, too). This is a song you basically don't hear on the oldies station on the radio EVER!! No Stax music library should be without this title. Get it while you can!!"

"Perhaps because their sound and style bore a marked similarity to James and Bobby Purify's, Mel and Tim did not become true R&B superstars. This 1972 release, however, sounds fresh and classy to this day while remaining a classic of smooth'70s Soul. If you like the music of The Chi-Lites, The Lost Generation, The Dramatics and The Impressions then this CD is guaranteed to please."
