"This is a live recording of excellent quailty from one of Mel's shows at the old Crecendo Club in Hollywood. You can hear the glasses & silverware clinking in the background and it has a very intimate feel...as if you're transported into the nightclub. Mel sings and Al Pellegrini plays clarinet...Very coooool"

"This is a fine album because of the beauty of Torme's voice and the swinging style he brought to so much of his music. It's an early recording, live at a nightclub, probably from the lean years of Mel's career (peraps when he was making B movies). It sounds as though there are not more than 25 people in the place, and few are listening. The group behind Mel is perfunctory at best. You can't hear the bass most of the time; the drummer keeps time; the pianist keeps up with the singer (on a cheesy piano), and the clarinetist...well...he manages. Still, this is golden Torme, singing some of America's greatest songs, including two of his own. You'll want to own it."
