"The Mendoza line--a band named after a baseball term denoting the lowest rung of mediocrity. Certainly one of the most misleading titles in Rock--next to the Queers. These songs are so refreshing. Don't be confused by their Athens, Ga. origins. They are not another "jump on the brian wilson band wagon" happy jangle pop band. They sing direct, touching, songs, but with a polish and refinement not often seen in the world of lo-fi. The Mendoza Line might just be the indi-answer to that paradigm of consistantly genuine songwriting, Tom Petty. Each track, whether instrumental or vocal, lends to a cohesive quality that seems a fair compromise in a world that is increasingly torn between concept albums and garage rock"
