CD Reviews

Old-school psychobilly is still the best out there!

"It takes a lot to impress me...it really does, but this cd really is impressive. It had been a while since I listened to anything that I deemed worthy of my money and even longer since I listened to anything that excited me, and this cd makes me happy to be alive.

I'd been hearing The Meteors for a while now but I just had a bunch of songs from several cds. When I finally got some money I decided to order me this legendary album, Wreckin' Crew, and I have to say those were the best 12 bux I've ever spent in my life!. In an era where psychobillly bands are taking on more and more of a metal and punk influence and forgetting about their rockabilly roots, Wreckin' Crew is as refreshing as a glass of cold limonade in a hot August afternoon. Even though The Meteors put out this cd before I was born, I can't help but think how this true psychobilly sound should be the future of the genre. It makes me yearn for more bands who take on that original 80's sound and leave behind that metal aggro. I truly believe that psychobilly shouldn't be punk with an upright...that it's gotta have some rockabilly in there somewhere.

Well, back to the album...its just amazing! Everyone should get it! You truly won't regret it! Drop all the Horrorpops, new Tiger Army crap you're listening to and get some good old-school psychobilly. All the tracks are tight but I specially like "Blue Sunshine", "Wreckin' Crew", "Axe Attack", "Insane", and "I Don't Worry About It". Ahhh, I love this cd! I give it 5 stars! Go get it now!

"AFRIEND OF MINE BORROWED A TAPE WITH THIS ALBUM ON IT. I HAVE BEEN FOREVER GRATEFUL TO HIM FOR OPENING MY EYES TO THE POSSIBILITIES OF GOOD TASTE IN MUSIC. I DETESTE MOST POPULAR,OVEREXPOSED,COMMERCIAL SOUNDTRACKS THAT SHOWCASE WEAK, WHINY, XEROXED BOYS WHO ARE DRESSED DIFFERENTLY JUST ENOUGH TO FIT INTO THE IMAGE OF A HIP YOUNG PERSON. THAT'S WHY I LOVE THIS ALBUM. I CAN'T GET OVER IT. FUN AND CREEPY AND ALTHOUGH I HATE TO USE THE TERM "ROCKS"-IT ROCKS. IT KEEPS YOU WARM AND AGGRESSIVE WHEN EVERYTHING GETS COLD, LIFELESS AND STUPID. MAINTAINS YOUR ATTITUDE. ITS ADDICTIVE. I LOVE IT. THAT'S ALL I HAD TO SAY. LISTEN. GOOD."
