"After the long wait for the dissapointiong Tical 0: The Prequel, Method Man goes back into the studio and two years later delivers his fourth album 4:21...The Day After. Unfortunately Method Man falls into the category of artists like Nas and Snoop Dogg of the fact that their debut album was so phenomonal, that the masses feel that each and every follow up is a dissapointment. Given that I was aware before I was going to hear this album, it wasn't going to be no Tical, but at the same time it doesn't meet my expectations.



Given that Method Man is one of the commercial artists in the Wu-Tang Clan, at times he doesn't deliver on the lyrical side for most of this album. "Problem" and "It's In Me" are weak on the lyrical side, although the production is excellent. What really gets me is that I know Method Man can come much harder than he does on this LP. "4:20" sounds completely uninspired, although I do like the sampling of his old voice during the hook. "Konichiwa *******" just sucks.



I won't completly write off Meth on this album. Songs he does kick a little flavor that I like. "Got To Have It" is excellent. "Say" features Lauryn Hill is tollerable. "Ya'Meen" is catchy that features Fat Joe (is it me or is Joe trying harder and harder to sound southern) and Styles. "Walk On" Meth and Redman kick verses with awesome chemestry. To me, thats by far the best track on the album. "Dirty Mef" is great and features the late ODB.



Overall 4:21...The Day After is solid but average. It still head and shoulders above his previous album, but that is not saying too much. Many listeners will like the production on this album curtrosy of RZA, Erick Sermon, Scott Scorch, and others. Some fans of the Wu will like this. I just personally don't think this album measures up to Method Man's capabilities. I recommend you give this a listen before you purchase. Peace.

"THIS ALBUM IS DEFINETLY A GOOD PURCHASE..AFTER THE PREQUEL TICAL 0..THIS IS AWESOME COMPARED TO THAT ONE....EVEN THOUGH THE PREQUEL GOT HORRIBLE REVIEWS IT HAD SOME GOOD SONGS...ONE I REMEMBER WAS A STRAIGHT BANGER, BACK TO THIS ALBUM THOUGH...THERE IS A MESS OF GOOD SONGS ON THIS ONE...THE STANDOUT TRACK IS DEFINETLY 420...OH MY GOODNESS THIS SONG ALONE I WOULD PAY 13 DOLLARS FOR, TWO VERSES BY METH, ONE BY STREET LIFE, AND ONE BY UNNOWN RAPPER,(HE SAYS HIS NAME LIKE THREE TIMES DURING HIS VERSE BUT STILL SOMEHOW THE NAME ESCAPES ME)...BUT THE BEAT KNOCKS AND THE FLOW IS UNMISTAKEBLE...COP THIS JOINT"
