Mia Miata's Urban Arias brings the textures of Jazz, R&B, Soul, and traditional Negro Spirituals, and cultivates a rich sound known as Jazzy Soul. Jazzy Soul can be described as a fusion of Soul with strong jazz influence. Many say, Mia has created a unique and rich resonance that compares with the likes of Sade, Nina Simone, and Phyllis Hyman. The debut independent release, Urban Arias is a tapestry woven between 15 original tracks, and an interpretation of the Negro Spiritual Lord, How Come Me Here newly entitled Urban Aria. Mia wrote, produced / co-produced all 16 tracks on the album. Mia's rich soprano ranges over 3 octaves. Her credibility stands from being classically trained at the Baltimore School for the Arts in Vocal Performance. In addition to, working with Dr. Nathan Carter and highly acclaimed vocal trainer Betty Ridgeway where she performed with the world class Morgan State University Choir. Additional performances at Morgan State University include, singing with the Philadelphia Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the Bonn Orchestra in Bonn Germany .
