CD ReviewsAmazing lyrics, catchy pop hooks - masterpiece Michael Collins | CA USA | 03/14/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "You can get the biography of The Mice in the Editorial Review above and searching the Internet yields a lot more information, so I'll attempt to provide information about the sound of the CD itself. The entire CD is power pop, which means it sounds like the best of the Beatles but with more energy and more punky drumming. The first 6 songs are from their original EP, For Almost Ever, which are enjoyable but alone don't make The Mice the underground legend some hold them to be. The remaining tracks, which comprised their second album and first LP, Scooter, are an absolutely trip into a realm of pop often reached for but rarely obtained. Starting off with Little Rage, arguably the best song to come from The Mice, is the type of pop song that just makes you want to smile and forgive everybody you're mad at. Mike Baker plays a trumpet line right after the bridge 3/4s of the way into the song that boldens the song and makes it only more enjoyable on the second listen. I can't recommend buying this CD enough if just for Little Rage. The rest of the Scooter tracks are all of much better songwriting than For Almost Ever, with sweet songs like When Tiffiany Cries and energetic songs like Gaurding You. Listen to the samples here, check out the two MP3s available on the Scat Records site (the label that produces this CD) and enjoy. If you're into power pop, you're into The Mice."
