Synopsis

Album Description
SPIRIT ON THE RUN BY MICHAEL BRANDMEIER Michael Brandmeier's debut release, Spirit On The Run (Silent Hawk Records) blazes a complete song cycle of passion, purpose and promise. With tracks from the CD featured on such hit TV sitcoms as the Warner Brother networks "DAWSON'S CREEK", these narratives are the struggles of love and destiny. His stories hold mirrors that clearly reflect real life, with clarity and authenticity. Brandmeier, a Madison, Wisconsin resident who spends time in Los Angeles, writes both solo and with accomplished producer Craig J. Snider. The album, recorded in Chicago, is a combination of state-of-the-art wizardry and wooden instruments. Its timeless music, pure rock and roll rhythms tinged with overtones of funk, and urban dance grooves. In this distinctively American pastiche, Michael gives voice to these stories. Highlights include: "Maybe This Time", a vivid description of a ship coming to shore with the singer holding fast to the anchor of dreams, (Featured in the Paramount Networks movie, "Dying To Live.") The title track "Spirit On The Run" is a promise of reason in this hectic world. "Heart Of Stone" is a prayer from the edge of faith, of knowing, but not believing. "Once Again" speaks of the pain of divorce and romantic break ups, (Featured in the WB networks hit sitcom "DAWSON'S CREEK". "I'd Rather Be Lonely" states that its better to be solitary than to choose the wrong partner. "A Good Man" is the story Michael's Grandfather, a man who owned a bar and kept order through a firm, old world propriety. A musician since age ten, Michael Brandmeier's unwavering commitment to his music is the cement that bonds the songs into a riveting, undeniable collection. This is real-life music from a real-life singer. Witness the truth with Spirit On The Run.

CD Reviews

Great debut CD!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Upbeat, happy, emotionally captivating are a few ways to descibe this CD. It also has a latent funkiness to it. A definite groove throughout the whole thing. I look forward to Michael's sophomore release."
