CD Reviews
"Let It Snow (2003) ... Michael Buble ... Reprise Records (2
J. Lovins | Missouri-USA | 10/23/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)
"My wife and I were fortunate enough to see Michael in a St. Louis
concert, met him back stage, told us he had just recorded this album
back in November of 2003 and was very proud of the result.
Might add this young man made a very positive impression on all who
attended that night's show --- he's a first class guy and has everything
going for him --- couldn't happen to a nicer person.
Pop vocalist of the millennium is Michael Buble, with shades of
Connick, Darin, Sinatra and Torme, all rolled into one nice neat
package (and that's the plain truth). Just in time for the holidays
Buble has re-released "Let It Snow!", featuring an unforgettable youthful
style that takes you back to Christmas' of long, long ago --- Listening to
this five track compact disc, brings back memories of Bing Crosby in
"Holiday Inn", where Bing first sang the Irving Berlin classic song of
these special times "WHITE CHRISTMAS".
Then we have "THE CHRISTMAS SONG (CHESTNUTS ROASTING
ON AN OPEN FIRE)", composed by Mel Torme/Robert Wells and debuted
by Nat "King" Cole (one of the greatest entertainers of all time), but Michael
nails this classic tune with his own signature and makes it his very own.
"LET IT SNOW!", wonderful arrangement by Johnny Mandel, as Buble
sings the white stuff is coming down in big flakes.
"GROWN-UP CHRISTMAS LIST", beautiful almost music box tune written
by David Foster (producer of this album), the verse brings a tear to your eye as
Michael pours his heart out, this track alone is worth the price of the album.
But my all time favorite popular Christmas song is "I'LL BE HOME FOR
CHRISTMAS", this chokes my wife up, cause when I served in the Navy
couldn't be with her that one Christmas, every time she hears this song
it all comes back, Buble takes the David Foster and Jeremy Lubbock
arrangement along with heartfelt lyrics and brings it home, just listen
quietly and see if you don't agree --- Let It Snow offers holiday greetings
for the yuletide days --- The EP was reissued in 2007 with a
bonus live version of the title track.
SPECIAL FEATURES: [BONUS TRACK] EP
1 Let It Snow. Let It Snow. Let It Snow [2:05]
2 The Christmas Song [4:15]

5 White Christmas [3:59]
[Bonus]

Finally a singer under the age of 50 who actually listens to the lyrics he's singing and interprets them in a unique way --- Buble has a rich, smooth, beautiful voice that gives these songs a new dimension --- And his diction...wow, there's a concept --- Listen to "Grown Up Christmas List" and you'll see what I mean --- Just in time for the holidays a true gem for any Christmas collection.

Michael Buble "Let It Snow"

"This CD is another indication that Mr. Buble is here to stay. His rendition of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" would touch the soul of the most hardened Scrooge. Michael Buble's style reminds one of Frank Sinatra with one difference: the quality of his voice is ten times better. My only complaint with this CD is that it is all too short. I would have enjoyed six more songs in this brilliant artist's voice."
+ 1/2 stars...Reissue Plus a Bonus Track
Steve Vrana | Aurora, NE | 11/10/2007

"With the well deserved success of Michael Buble's major label debut in 2003, it only made sense to follow that up with a holiday release the same year. It is now being released with a bonus track--a live performance of the title track (complete with audience sing-a-long on the chorus).
Produced by fellow Canadian David Foster, the EP's six tracks feature Buble's trademark jazzy vocals and lush arrangements. If there's a criticism, it's that there isn't much variety in tempo. Except for "Let It Snow," these are all ballads. Which, if you're looking for Christmas music to snuggle with your sweetie in front of the fire, makes this the perfect choice. [Running Time - 20:08] RECOMMENDED"
Fine, But Realize That It's An EP

"An EP is not a full-length album. So, don't be surprised (like I was) when you get the disc and find it's only half as long as you'd like. Probably a case of sloppy/hasty ordering on my part (it happens), but it's good to point it out. Otherwise, this is a decent album. It left me wanting more, which I suppose says good things. Buble's smooth jazz approach makes for some relaxing holiday tunage."
Only six songs??

"I like Buble a lot, but c'mon--what's up with six songs, once of which is repeated--how about making a REAL Xmas album, with 12 or 15 songs?"
