CD Reviews

Impressive boogie/blues/rock
Mr BR (for Blues Rock) | Ontario, Canada | 09/06/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Like Walter Trout, this American guitarist has enjoyed sucess in Europe while still unknown at home. He can boogie with the best (old ZZ Top, Foghat, and Savoy Brown at their LOUDEST)while mixing in some mean sounding slow blues. His slide playing sounds similar to Johnny Winter, and his lead guitar sounds a lot like Billy Gibbons of the Tres Hombres/Fandango era. While his lyrics have no deep meaning, listen carefully and you'll have a few laughs (he definely writes with a sense of humour!) This CD has 14 original tunes, 72 minutes and not a dull moment."
Live, loud and boogie
Michael Nemeth | OH | 04/12/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Whew, Katon proves he can rock with the best of them live on this fantastic recording. Ok so you think you've heard every blues guitar hero? grab this cd than re think your top ten list! Bustin Up the Joint is 72 minutes of pure boogie blues played by a tight rockin three piece band. Its raw and loud but man does it rock from Rip it Hard to the frantic Rock n Run. Plus there is some killing gutiar work on Lucky Lucky Lucky and the instrumental Wake up call that you can't miss"
Blistering Live Performance
Mr BR (for Blues Rock) | Ontario, Canada | 09/08/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The title on the CD cover is a actually Busting the Joint - Live. Although he plays to much larger audiences in Europe, this performance was recorded at a smaller venue called Howard's Club H in Ohio. Seventy two minutes of high energy boogie/blues/rock and he doesn't waste a second from start to finish. Imagine if ZZ Top's Fandango had been a 2 LP live set and that's pretty close to the sound you hear on this disc. This talented guitarist really desrves more recognition in his own country."
