CD ReviewsFIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY!! W. Malone | 11/27/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Let me start by saying that you really have to put this one in a category by itself away from Stryper. Michaels days in Stryper were great(they are back together as I write this) but since this is his solo album let's see how it stacks up. Of course when you first put this in your cd player you will wonder if it is going to sound like another Stryper record without the other members. He did write most of the material for the band and is a great producer also. But it is not Stryper, but Michael with a solid band behind him and great songwriters also. This solo album by Michael sounds "BIG" as in a Bon Jovi/Def Leppard. Really produced good. Actually the music is towards that direction also(Bon Jovi,Def Leppard, and even Bryan Adams). Like I mentioned, Michael really got some talent to work with his own with this album. Greg Fulkerson is half producer and songwriter on this album. Greg was in a band called Blue Tears that sounded like Bon Jovi meets Def Leppard also and that helps explain some of the great production/songs that this album has. The songs themselves are great and as mentioned above have a rock/hard rock sound as opposed to just hard rock/metal. This is really a great cd with rock songs, ballads and everything in between. There are songs about relationships, racism, and having a personal relationship with Jesus. This is a first class album all the way and I like it much more than his follow up cd "Real". I admit I was first thinking this cd would not be that great as there are drum machines used on it(like a Bryan Adams cd) but on here it really works. Highly recommended for your cd collection. Stand out songs: "All This And Heaven To" "All I Want To Do(Is Love You)" "Together" and "Take Me Home"" Not bad, but still could have been better. rnorton828 | Riverbend, IL | 05/27/2004 (3 out of 5 stars) "This self-titled CD, released in 1994, was Michael Sweet's first full-length solo release following his departure from Stryper. Michael Sweet has long been recognized as a great vocalist by both Christian & secular observers, and his vocals sound great on this CD. Musically this album combines elements of Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi and perhaps even a little Def Leppard. Lyrically, this CD represents a return to the upfront Christian message found on Stryper's early records. There are also a couple of "relationship" songs as well--"Together" & "Tomorrow, Tonight." Some of the better songs here include "Take Me Home," "All This & Heaven Too," "Someday" & "Forever Yours." Altogether, this is not a bad CD, but I still believe it coud have been better. "Real" was more of what I was expecting, and I do think it's actually a better record. "Truth" is Michael's best solo effort to date."
