"Though this CD could be called "adult pop", that would be terribly misleading. Miguel Bose's music is full of emotional and sensual energy, but it's conceptually rich as well. The search for faith in God, the longing for freedom, the pain of lost love, the environmental crisis--these are some themes addressed in the music here.Miguel Bose's album may be sonically compatible, on a superficial level, with the taste of your light-hits-radio-listening thirtysomething, but his highly literate attention to such diverse themes distinguishes him. Though he has the charisma and style to be very popular, his music on this album is brilliant and uncompromising. And for me, that is a good thing.Miguel Bose blends Hispanic and Anglo influences (his drummer once worked for Tears for Fears) into a powerful, conceptually rich album which deserves an international audience. Too bad most Americans have never heard of him."

"Out of my entire collection of over 500 albums this is always rated #1. I have two copies - one for home and one for work. Its is soothing, exciting and a joy to listen to. Bosé's lyrics and vocal talent are a perfect combunation on every track. If I could rate it higher, I would!"

"I also bought this album ages ago, but it's still wonderful. The lyrics are intense and profound and the music is great, perfect for each song. Listen to a few samples to see if it's your taste. This album is in my opinion, one of the best of Miguel Bose. Quality Spanish music rarely gets better than this, trust me ;)
I highly recommed the Direct '90 as well, it's old school Miguel Bose... and it rocks!

Intelligence with a beat

""Bajo El Signo De Cain" is one of Bose's most brilliant albums. He fuses many music genres such as tropical, "middle east", and afro-cuban in this album giving it a very "world - music" flavor. His lyrics along with his music are a reflection of his maturing as an artist. "Nada Particular" is a perfect example of this. "Dame una isla en el medio del mar.. llamala libertad" ... "Give me an Island in the middle of the sea.. call it 'liberty'". It even rhymes in English. This song has a great beat."Si tu no Vuelves" experienced a lot of air play because of it's catchy chorus.. you can't beat that whistle. This album is sung in Spanish and a great companion to his "Labarinto" album.I also recommend his "Salamandra" and "XXX" album (spanish version). kinda like: Bryan Ferry/ Roxy Musicerwin@ritmo.com"
