"When I purchased this disc, I thought it was actually material from a concert in 1967 that was issued on CD in the 90's under a similar name (actually, that disc is called 'No Blues' and was released on JMY). The track listing is similar as it was from the same repertoir that Miles' sixties band mostly played from. This disc features 3 tunes from a concert recorded in St. Louis at Jazz Villa, June 1963 and 3 tunes recorded in Portland at Oregon State College in May 1966. The Band at its core is Miles, Tony Williams & Herbie Hancock. Ron Carter & George Coleman are on the 1963 set, and Wayne Shorter and Richard Davis are on the 1966 set. The music of course is incredible, ferocious, even.
That being said, the only problem is the low output of the disc and the lousy sound quality. But the Music is so amazing! It's also interesting to hear Richard Davis with this group. Unfortunately you can't hear him better.
So, in conclusion, the music gets a 5, the sound quality a 2.
This disc is for completists only! There are plenty of other great live discs by this general line-up. Seek them out instead."
