Album DescriptionYet another superb entry in Ace's short series of Expanded Versions of Millie Jackson's original Spring albums. "Hurts So Good" first appeared in 1973, on the back of Ms. Jackson's Top 3 R&B/Top 30 Pop US success with its title track (her all-time biggest US hit, by the way). Its appearance also marked the first time that Millie recorded in the famous southern soul town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama - where her major subsequent successes "Caught Up" and "Still Caught Up" (both also available in this series) would be recorded in their entirety. This newly remastered version, from the original Spring album production master, adds a generous six bonus tracks, including a first-ever true stereo mix of Millie's non-album 45 "Breakaway", several very different mixes of some of the album's highlights and two `one take' demos that Millie never recorded `finished' versions of. Once again issued with the co-operation and participation of Ms. Jackson herself, this is an hour's worth of seminal Millie that no true fan or collector will care to be without.
