"This CD pretty much does what you'd expect. With tracks such as Spiller's Groovejet, Planet Perfecto's Bullet In Your Gun and Sonique's It Feels So Good, this is basically a collection of all the biggest club floor fillers of the year. Many have also been cahrt fillers in the UK, songs like Toca's Miracle and the slightly cheesy Don't Call Me Baby (which I advise skipping) topped our singles chart. Some will complain that the selection is too mainstream, but this is what it's all about, great music to party too with some stomping beats as well. It also features Modjo's Lady (Hear Me Tonight), probably the best dance-pop track of the year. If you want underground dance look elsewhere, the CDs from Cream and Gatecrasher are may be more to your taste and are great too, but more people will love this."

"I picked this up while vacationing in Spain and it is the ultimate party and dance CD. I am addicted to it! Sometimes you wonder if a compliation is gonna really be the "best of" and I have to say this one lives up to it's billing and then some. Although the first track on Judge Jules' disc one is not my fav, once you get past it, it's all good. Spiller's Groovejet, Afro Medusa's Pasilda and Johnny Corporate's Sunday Shoutin' are lots of fun. My fav is "Can You Dig It" but it's so short, but that is my only complaint. Tall Paul's disc has Modjo's Lady, but Darude's Sandstorm will get you all geared to hit the clubs. I tried to chose one disc over the other but that's a tough call. They're both great in their own way. Crank it up because it's music that makes you feel good and you'll find yourself dancing around the house or chillin' out in your car. Great for taking to the gym too...you'll get lost in the tunes and the time will just fly (It may even make you want to work out longer just so you can listen to the CDs). I've already got a bunch of friends and colleagues hooked on it. This is one of those great finds that you'll be so glad that you picked up."
Still one of the best party cds around

"the ministry of sound annual series advertises itself as a hot party disc, as it contains basically all the club anthems of the past year in continuous, energetic fashion. it's not groundbreaking by any means, but it doesn't claim to be in any way. it serves its purpose admirably though, and won't fail in keeping people on the dance floor if they have any notion of what a good time is all about. if you don't own any of the annuals, this is a good bet. if you prefer lesser known material in this same club-anthem compilation vein, go for the excellent "cream anthems 2000". otherwise, this is about as good as a dance-party set comes."
First Not Soo Great, But Than Blown Away

"Okay, im not generally a taul paul fan, but the mixes on this cd are fantastic. Judge Jules CD is pretty good, the average expected from him, however tall paul is awesome all the mixes come across extreemely clean and flow together well. THis is a cd i can just pop in and listen to all the way through without getting tired of it."
Annual 2000 won't live up to it's predecessors

"This mix album breaks from the Annual tradition. Originally The Annual was the definitive clubland collection of tunes that were massive IN the clubs and not on commercial radio. Now it has just become one dance album which has all the tracks on all the other 'best of 2000' series'. For example, the set that Tall Paul mixes in this CD does not fit in with the sort of music that most clubbers have known him for, largely progressive, tech-house, not US house and garage, which the first 9 tracks on his set are. I cannot imagine hearin Paul drop Bob Sinclar or Modjo in one of his live sets. However I can imagine Jules spinnin' tracks by spiller, modjo, beatchuggers and afro medusa alongside darude, storm and elictrique boutique in one of his live sets on Radio 1. This album sure as hell defines the hit tracks of the year, but it surely does not define the sound of clubland for 2000. One for the kiddies who are only just getting into dance music. Only reason I bought it was to keep the tradition of buying The Annual (since Annual 3) and also because of the inlay booklet. If I could give it 2.5 stars I would, average at best, but largely mediocre. For dance purists, give this a miss."
