Synopsis

Description
The renaissance R&B group from Minneapolis is back with another classic release! Livin' the Luxury Brown is a continuation of the R&B, rock, jazz alternative, hip-hop sound that the band developed in 1989 with their breakthrough album Meant to Be Mint, which included the hit single "Pretty Brown Eyes." Mint Condition continued to grow their loyal fan base with songs like "U Send Me Swingin'" on the album From the Mint Factory and the song "What Kind of Man Would I Be," their platinum single from the gold album Definition Of A Band. Including their last release, Life's Aquarium, Mint Condition has sold over 3.8 million records.

CD Reviews

The TRUTH!!!

"I'm late with this review, but I'm from a neck of the woods where good, solid R&B isn't fully appreciated. Been a MC fan since day one, but didn't find out about Livin' The Luxury Brown until a few months ago. To make a long story short, I've been playing the CD since I bought it. One of those rare CD's where you can let it rock from beginning to end. My favorites in order: Half An Hour, I'm Ready, Look Whachu Done 2 Me, Fallin Apart, What Happened, Sad Girl, Love Your Tears, Runaway, Whoaa & Sista.(Damn, was that all of them?)If you don't have it, go get it, and while you're out, pick up the Live From The 9:30 CLub DVD. You will not be disappointed. And see them live when they come to a city near you. After that phenomenal experience, you'll eagerly await each and every Mint Condition release like a drug addict!!!"
Life after the Majors

"After purchasing 20th Century Masters - Millennium Collection, I decided that I wanted to continue to explore this band, and where better to start than with their last studio release from 2005.The first thoughts that come to mind listening to this CD is that it's wonderful to hear real organic instruments on a release, and one that is willing to use unconventional instruments at that ( I like the use of Steel pans on 'My Sista, and 'Look Whachu Done 2 Me') Of the songs themselves apart from the fore mentioned songs above, I also liked'Whoaa', 'Luxury Brown' 'I'm Ready' and 'We Got Us', I think that 18 songs deep, this CD comes in too top heavy and could have been reduced to say 12 tracks. Also for a group known for their quiet storm moments, the one on offer here' Love Your Tears' doesn't meet the mark, and I wasn't feeling the rock offerings ' Doormat' & 'One Wish' left me cold. The freedom of not being with a major allows the group to pursue their Rock cravings. All in all, a decent release, which with some tighten of the screws, could have been better.

I'm Livin' the Luxury Brown Myself

"I have been a loyal fan of Mint Condition since Pretty Brown Eyes. They have a sound that is truly their own. I wish the industry would give them more attention. This album shows their range. I love the sound of a live band. They give you jazz, r&b, soul, funk, and rock. I have seen them perform live several times and they bring it every time. Stokely continues to blow my mind vocally. He has so much control in his voice. I'm sorry, but there are not enough artists out right now who can blow like that on a cd and live. This album is their best by far. I can't wait until their next release."
