CD Reviews

Much better than the preceding two

"This is prog as it should be in 2005.

If you like to explore new avenues in music (intriguing athmospheres, weird counterpoint, warped harmonies) then this is for you.

If your bag is the standard rehash of old ideas from the 70's, which is the lot of most neo-prog bands of today, then you can either stay clear of Miriodor, or take a chance at something new with Parade.

The live at Nearfest set (disc 2) just rips the studio versions of the previous album (Mekano) to shreds, so Parade would be a good introduction to the band.

Be warned that this is not easy listening though. The focus is more on the overall textures than on melodies in the traditional sense."
Feed the Mind, Free the Intellect

"Miriodor's music has always been some of the most 'technical' around, with fast time-changes and off-kilter rhythms, unusual instrumentation and oddly-hummable tunes. On this their sixth release, they continue in the same direction, but with a little additional experimentation in the instrumentation.

It's impossible to describe Miriodor's music as they sound like nobody else, but if you could imagine a Klezmer band playing with Hungarian Gypsies inside a French cabaret... well, if you can imagine THAT you'll be able to dig right into Miriodor without an appetizer!"
