CD Reviews

Bridging a Gap
Bret Sexton | 01/22/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This effort by Miroslav is an excellent example of an artist moving in a new direction. It is a link between his early seventies fusion explorations and the ECM type sound he becomes synonomous with in the late seventies and early eighties. This album bridges the gap between those two sounds and, in doing so, has a unique sound of its' own. It seems that Miroslav was starting to find his voice on this album."
Uninspired wankery from a great bassist
Michael Kydonieus | San Francisco, CA United States | 01/08/2004
(1 out of 5 stars)

"As far as the music on this cd is concerned, the other reviewer pretty much sums it up more tactfully that I ever could. Why, Miroslav, why? His first date as a leader, "Infinite Search," is essential. ("Purple," made with roughly the same players, is unavailable on cd--go figure.) I saw his band back in '76--an astounding concert--in my top five, for sure. Miroslav is a great player, bandleader and composer. Why is it then that his solo output, with one, possibly two exceptions, ranges from okay (Miroslav Vitous Group/ECM) to execrable? This is one of the great mysteries of the universe."
