Don't Miss This One, Honky Tonk Fans

"Miss Leslie & Her Juke-Jointers are back with their third album, Between the Whiskey and the Wine, and it is the best work they've done to date. There are a few faces missing from the original Juke-Jointer lineup, and a few new ones in the mix now, but this current lineup will certainly never be faulted for not playing authentic, hardcore honky tonk music because this sounds like an album that might have been recorded in the sixties. In fact, if you like Ray Price's Night Life album, you're going to feel right at home listening to Between the Whiskey and the Wine.
Leslie wrote all thirteen of these new songs herself, something of which she is justifiably proud, and it is obvious from her vocals that she has a strong emotional attachment to the lyrics of each of them. Between the Whiskey and the Wine is about real life, that everyday world in which stress, financial problems, a wandering eye and a readily available night life often combine to ruin a relationship and lead the unwary to seek comfort in the nearest bottle.
A glance at the titles of a few of the album's highlights says it all: "I'm Done with Leaving," "Between the Whiskey and the Wine," "I Can Get Over You," "In the Matter of Me and You," "You Left Me a Long Time Ago," and "I'll Walk Out."
This is traditional honky tonk music at its finest, and longtime fans of the genre will discover that its timeless sound brings back many a memory from the day when Honky Tonk truly was king of country music. There's lots of fiddle, lots of crying steel guitar, some very fine harmony provided by Leslie's sister, Hillary Sloan, and lyrics to kill for. Leslie's first two albums were remarkable recordings, but this one is another giant step forward for a young lady who deserves to be a real country music star.
Don't miss this one."

"Having bought Miss Leslie's two previous albums I had high expectations for her new one. "Between the Whiskey and the Wine" has far exceeded those expectations. This is not the weak watered down product played on what passes for country radio these days. This is Real Country Music sung with real heartfelt emotion. These are songs about real life as lived by real people. Miss Leslie's vocal renditions are superb, and she is backed by band that has a great authentic honky-tonk sound."
Country Music doesn't get any more real than this!

"Miss Leslie is a superb fiddle player and passionate singer who has found her voice as a songwriter. This great album is what can happen when someone with her skill set goes through a divorce. No one has come away from such a situation with an album like this since Richard and Linda Thompson's epic "Shoot Out The Lights." Every song has the emotional kick of a jackhammer that got loose somehow. "Love Will Find You" is an absolute killer, a testament to the power of believing in true love, even when love hasn't done you any great favors recently. I can't recommend this album highly enough."
