"Early music lovers are in for a treat. This exciting new recording exploits the tranquil blend of the singers' fine voices to great effect. Because I'm a Lassus fan, I bought the disc even though I hadn't heard of the choir before, and they were a delightful surprise. For the first mass and motet, they sing with an exciting sense of the composition--bold, expressive, and triumphant. The voices almost become fanfare trumpets at times and always reflect the tuning, diction, and precision of professional singers. The second mass and chanson are gentler, with a sweetly lyric quality. The different treatment the choir gives the two primary compositions on the disc speaks well for the sensitivity of the singers as well as the musicality of the conductor, Haig Mardirosian. The singing was recorded in a rich acoustic, making for a Renaissance CD you'll return to again and again. Highly recommended."
